1ste blootstelling = totale verwerping

2de blootstelling = gedeeltelike verwerping

3de blootstelling = gedeeltelike aanvaarding

4de blootstelling = volle aanvaarding

5de blootstelling = gedeeltelike assimilasie

6de blootstelling = volledige assimilasie

Dance-Club Membership Conditions and Other Announcements!

New beginners enroll for a year, no matter in which term the beginner starts class. It’s not worth it for us & the dancer to take classes for a shorter period than a year. We do not want to waste the dancer or our own time & money by offering shorter class because we have learned over the years that it does not work. It takes a year to build the foundation & some confidence. After that, the dancer can continue with class attendance to properly learn to dance to higher levels & build a lot of confidence. It is therefore expected of the dancer to give 1 term written notice after the first year so that there is enough time to get another dance partner for your dance partner.

Couples-dance is a royal activity and being part of our prestigious dance club, we expect of our dancers and their parents to behave in royal manner.

We as social dancers, for being involved in some form of partner dance: ballroom, Latin American, Rock’nRoll and other casual couples-dances (we do all these; not just 1 or 2), are all part of an international royal clan. Partner dance is such an elite activity that it automatically provides pedestal status because it requires discipline with respect and compassion toward others to execute and to become good at. Couples dance involves doing 7 things at the same time:

  • listening to the music,
  • staying in time to the music,
  • executing steps,
  • avoiding collisions,
  • plan the next step,
  • giving or reacting to the partner’s dance-signals and
  • chatting.

No wonder it is possible to increase IQ with partner dance; the only activity that can achieve this—a proven fact.

Everything we offer is stress free, but brings about valuable exposure, development and life-experience. It is thus of cardinal importance that our dancers attend and partake in our presentations for the desired and best results. We really do have very loyal dancers at our dance club and we thank these loyal dancers and their parents for all your support, participation and contribution. It doesn’t go by unnoticed and the results are also evident.

Classes need to be attended diligently. Dancers who hardly ever attend classes cannot hold the dance club responsible if they can’t dance, remember or execute the steps. Dancers that don’t attend class every week cannot remember everything covered weekly.

Note, the brain loses the information after 7 days. That’s why it is so important to come in contact with the same skill on a weekly basis, which is not always possible due to illness or other activities, but dancers that are at class regularly dance well compared to the ones playing hooky.

Our research has proven that dancers who attend class every two weeks never learn to dance. They only learn steps but cannot use them because they don’t attend the weekly classes and, in all probability, don’t attend socials either. Only after a regular weekly attendance of a 7-week period is each dance-step a part of the memory bank and can’t be lost again. 24hours to 7-day intervals are necessary for the brain to process new data, but not longer.

The 7 stages the mind goes through in attaining a new skill:

1st Exposure = Total Rejection

2nd Exposure = Partial Rejection

3rd Exposure = Partial Acceptance

4th Exposure = Full Acceptance

5th Exposure = Partial Assimilation

6th Exposure = Full Assimilation

7th Exposure = Automatic and part of you

If a dancer attends very few classes or doesn’t attend class for 1 term without having given the required amount of time notice, the fees still have to be paid, since the dancer is still a member of our dance club.

If a dancer is absent from dance-class for more than 2 consecutive weeks in one term, the dancer has to move to a lower level class if the dancer is unable to catch up to the class. Some are able to catch up easily while others are unable to do so. Too much is covered during class, so much is lost if dancers are absent from class.

We separately have one annual internal competition for our high-school dancers and one for our primary-school dancers to get the quality out of the learning-to-dance and developing process. There is nothing to be afraid of as our competitions are similar to socials where the dancer competes against the standard to ensure that each dancer gets a trophy and our competitions build tremendous confidence, but more importantly, they’re great fun: an event to look forward to and to really dress up for. Note, each dancer gets a trophy because the dancer competes against the standard and not against the others on the dance floor to create a sense of achievement.

It is expected of our members to participate in all the organized events such as our termly Socials (free), annually Competitions (R450 that includes each one’s trophy) and Exams (R150 – R300 including diploma/s). We cannot provide a thorough and proper educational program successfully if our dancers don’t attend and make use of what we provide. The dancer must take part in everything offered at our dance club to get the full value thereof! Our dancing isn’t merely an extramural activity but a life skill and we aren’t out to drain parents for their money. That is why we try to keep everything low and, for instance, there is no profit on our competitions. Therefore, everything offered is in the interest of our dancers and their development. Other places in SA charge R2500plus for their couples-dance competitions.

Since our dance club is a boys’ partner dance club because the boys are the core of everything, our boys are obligated to attend the Socials as they are the hosts. The girls dress up and go to a lot of trouble to look appealing and different from the way they look at dance-class that ensures a rewarding social practice. The dancers who attend our socials regularly dance better than the ones who hardly ever or never attend a social.

To advance to a higher level, our dancers have to dance exams, which is similar to level grading in karate. These diplomas can be used for any CV or application to universities as proof of the royal activity a person is involved in.

Parents must please not remove themselves from any of the groups. Rather mute the phone if we have a function going that will result in many replying or commenting. It is a requirement at our dance club that our high school dancers are on the all the relevant groups with one parent.

Girls dancing on our higher levels may start with lifts in the Sokkie & Boogie from about grade 6 onward and need to know this. They needn’t be scared because we do dance lifts that are not very high and are used in social couples-dance all over the world. Only upon request will our girls do high lifts and Theatre Arts (a dance that entails gracious lifts).

Boys only do lifts in high school.

Unless special arrangements have been made, fees must be paid in the beginning of the term but not later than the middle of the term.

The Dance Club retains all rights regarding outstanding fees, late and or default payments must not be accepted or seen as a relaxation of any rights.

Dance-club fees are actually calculated on a yearly basis that is split into 4 termly fees, no matter in which term the dancer starts dancing. We have new beginner classes every term and as the dancer progresses to higher levels, classes can run for 30plus years because our dancing is a life-skill, also called lifestyle dancing. 32 – 36 classes are supposed to be presented in a year (8-9 per term). We provide 41 classes per year to ensure value for money, although there are 43 school weeks. We lose 2 weeks of the last term due to schools closing early, but because we provide classes in surplus during the other terms, we still present more than what we are supposed to over a year (12 months). The hours for dance-club socials (a social is like a dance-function) can additionally be added, as we do other things there and they are completely different from class but a part of the learning and developmental process of our dance for social experience, etc.

Since we do couples dance and the coach, personally, goes to a lot of trouble to have equal amount boys and girls in each class, a term’s notice is vital as it provides us with the opportunity to make other arrangements to fill the empty spot to have more or less equal amount of both genders at each class. There’s a similar dance club in PE where each class used to have 30 girls and 5 boys because mostly their boys merely stopped dancing without notice when they felt like it and didn’t understand that they have an obligation toward their dance partners. The research we did there indicated that the boys had the idea they could learn to dance in as short as possible time, one or two terms, which we know isn’t possible, since the confidence attached to the learning-to-dance process takes the longest to build. When confidence starts building, the dancer absorbs the dance-knowledge better and faster, and also retains it better while many dances are covered. Our boys here are more enlightened about how our dance club works and that it is similar to the dance clubs in developed countries, so we don’t have such a huge problem as they had, although this seems to be a tendency more among boys than girls. Because we do a royal activity, it is especially here required of our dancers and their parents to behave in royal manner, so if someone wants to terminate classes it is the parent’s duty to make sure the child understands the conditions and adheres to the conditions.

If a dancer wants to withdraw from our dance club, one term’s written notice is required. What is a term’s notice?

Option 1: Letting the club know of your intentions within the first two weeks of the term, then still attend classes and the social for the rest of that term while paying for that term.

Option 2: Give notice after the first two weeks of the term or at the end of the term, but then fees are still liable for that term and also for the succeeding term. A dancer, who merely vanishes and doesn’t pay outstanding fees as well as notice fees, is blacklisted and won’t dance at our dance club again. This is bad manners and not the way to act. We should depart in good spirit as those who have kept in contact and are getting married, now interested in lessons for their wedding-reception’s opening-dance.

We commend parents and children who have proven integrity and good manners by giving notice correctly and have made sure all fees are paid. If a child is allowed to merely abscond without proper notice and payment of fees, this is the way the child will turn out when the child is grown up. Please adhere to our requirements as you would expect others to do if you had to have a similar practice.

To the members who have given notice correctly, we wish you well and trust you’ll put your skills, obtained from us, to good use with great fun for the rest of your life. To the members who have been dancing at our dance club for a while and especially the ones that have been dancing at our dance club for a very long time, we’d like to inform you that we love you dearly because you make our dance club—you’re like family! Some have literally grown up at our dance club!

Please note that the high-school dancers have a different experience to the primary school dancers, because they start realizing how to put the ability-to-dance to practice in public.

Our dance-club fee for 2021 is R2320 for the entire year seeing as payments are not for classes but to be a member at our dance club. The term-fee is thus R580 per person per term & R194 per person per month for 12 month (January to December). Some people prefer to pay termly while others prefer to pay monthly.  The cheapest dance-school or dance-studio fees in Bloemfontein are R800 for 6 classes per term or up to R2000 for 8 classes per term. We provide 10 classes or more per term. Our dance-club fees are low so that our dancers can continue dancing for a long time, as a person cannot learn to dance in a short while, definitely not in 1 or 2 terms, and we want our dancers to always dance way better than the general public. It’s a life-skill and lifestyle-activity, so classes should be attended lifelong like in developed countries to keep the brain fit & to gain other positive results.
